There’s a buzz in the air as we prepare to open the doors for a limited programme of exciting events starting on Saturday 9 September when we take part in Heritage Open Days.
This is the UK’s largest grass roots celebration of history and culture with over 5,000 free events offering visitors the chance to celebrate the treasures on their own doorsteps. Come and be a tourist in your town with a hard hat tour of The Exchange when we’ll be joined by Rory Lushman, who began as a projectionist and became manager the cinema. Tours start at 10.15am and will be every half an hour until 1.15pm. Places are limited and must be booked in advance via the Heritage Open Days website: www.heritageopendays.org.uk
Look out for Rory speaking to Beccy Barr on BBC Northwest Tonight this week along with our trustees and past cinema patron, local resident Barry Greenwood with his wife Jean sharing his memories.
