EVENT: CHROMATOGRAM – LIAM HOPKINS, LAZERIAN
TYPE OF EVENT: ARTISTIC INSTALLATION
PARTNER: NATIONAL FESTIVAL OF MAKING
DATE: JUNE 2017

We are proud to be a partner venue for the National Festival of Making, usually a two day event taking over the town with a unique celebration of UK making ‘from factory floor to the kitchen table’ which welcomes more than 40,000 visitors to Blackburn.

Art in Manufacturing is a co-commission between National Festival of Making and Super Slow Way which sees artists placed in residence in major manufacturers across Lancashire. The artists collaborate with workforce’s to make incredible new works from soundscapes to sculptures which are presented at the festival weekend.

Artist, Liam Hopkins is the creative behind Lazerian who created CHROMATOGRAM. A multidisciplinary, creative studio specialising in designing and creating bespoke products and experiences for both interior and exterior space. Liam worked with The Cardboard Box Company to create fifteen 10ft tall, walk-in pods fabricated entirely from precision-cut individually printed cardboard modules.

Photography of the installation was used on the cover of Interior Design magazine.
