Trustee’s Chair, Dr Alastair Murdoch welcomed a VIP visitor to The Exchange today. Lancashire’s Lord Lieutenant Charles Kay Shuttleworth was invited to drop in to have a look around whilst on a visit to Blackburn where he was unveiling of a memorial stone to commemorate the Victoria Cross recipient, Private James Pitts. The event was attended by family members, dignitaries and the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment.
Alastair explained. ‘Lord Shuttleworth was in full regalia for the ceremony across at the town hall. However, he ditched his sword and hat in his car and then came round. He loved the place, was very supportive and offered any help we thought he could give.’
Thanks to Ian Holmes, Square Cactus for capturing the visit on camera for us.
