With development work still underway, our long-held vision to become a sought after venue that brings the community together is becoming a reality! If we had any concerns or doubts about losing momentum during a 12 month closure, we needn’t have worried! We hardly had chance to catch our breath after our tower reopening at the end of May before two showstopper events in June, both showcasing the scale and flexibility of the iconic space at The Exchange. Here’s what we’ve been up to …

Michael Rosen brought the house down at the Blackburn with Darwen Children’s Literature Festival. Hundreds of excited school children erupted into loud cheers and applause as the legendary author and poet took to the stage. The creator of the much-loved We’re Going on a Bear Hunt had everyone laughing from the moment he introduced himself as ‘Michael Raisin’ (his favourite food)!

The 2026 1V Awards, organised by One Voice Blackburn, celebrated outstanding individuals and organisations making a positive impact across Blackburn with Darwen. The movie-themed awards dinner took place on 13 June was a nod to our heritage as a former cinema. Congratulations to the organisers. Click here for the full gallery of images from that event.
