£10 fine for Peeping Tom

On 26 February 1953 it was reported that a peeping tom had been fined £10 after being found up a drainpipe trying to see into the toilets:

Charles Francis George Davis of Mount Pleasant Blackburn was said to have been seen holding onto a drainpipe in a passage at the rear of the Majestic Cinema.

A search through the British Newspaper Archives reveals and article in the Taunton Courier and Western Advertiser that Davis had been caught on the roof of a doctor’s house in Bridgewater a few years earlier. In 1959, in the Nottingham Evening News, it was reported that Davis was jailed after committing an act of indecent exposure in a cinema.
